Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day on Saturday with a big meal for my dad and Steve. We really didn't plan it to happen that way, it just evolved!! We made barbecue ribs, potato salad, corn and the boys made a chocolate cake with very little assistance. It took all day for some reason but it was alot of fun.

We had a hard time deciding what we were going to get Steve this year. Ethan made a list of things he thought "Dad"(that is what he calls him now :( would like. His list went something like this:

1. A watch so he could have more "time" with us
2. Tools but he already has some of those
3. Submit a myth that "Dad" wanted busted or confirmed to Mythbusters and have them air it on Sunday.
4. A MP3 player so Ethan could download all of his favorite songs for "Dad" to learn the lyrics so they could sing them together.

This was literally his list. He is so funny sometimes. After I convinced him that even if we sent the myth into Mythbusters we weren't guaranteed to have them air it by Sunday, we settled on the MP3 player. Steve really loved it and the boys thought it was the best gift since "Dad" loves music. They have spent the day looking over songs to download and listen to for this week!! Steve is a one of a kind dad who is always gracious and loving!! Ethan and Isaac don't know how blessed they are!!

I just have to say too that I have been blessed with a wonderful, loving ,giving and special dad! He means to the world to me and we can't wait until he retires in July to spend more time with him! Thanks dad for being a big softy!!!

Another blessing we had was that Steve was able to talk to his dad today!! It has been far too long. They had wonderful conversation and were able to catch up. I pray that a door has been opened to a new and frequent relationship!!

Thank God for daddy's that teach us each day how we can better love and serve our Heavenly Father!!


I wanted to include pix of the boys making the cake. It was a first for me to let them do this entirely on their own. They did a great job and the cake tasted awesome.
