My Favorite Summer Things

I was tagged today by my friend Pilar over at The Stark's in Spain. I am supposed to write about my five favorite things of summer. So here goes..

Swimming...swimming and more swimming

Mine and my hubby's anniversary in July

The Great East Texas Balloon Race in June
Eating lots of ice cream at the DQ

The 4th of July party at my folks place. Lots of food, family and...

The fireworks are amazing
Those are just the highlights of my favorite summer activities. The Texas heat keeps you from a lot of outside activities, esp in August but overall who doesn't love summer time. I can't wait until Fall, that's really my favorite time of the year.

So what about you? Are your summer's spent drenched in sweat or do you actually get enjoyable evenings with cool breezes?

Day 18 - Eternal Perspective

Day 18
Pray that your husband will have an eternal perspective—living in light of eternity. Pray that he will reject materialism and temporal values and put God first in his life.

Matthew 6:33
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Deuteronomy 6:5
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.

Ephesians 5:16
Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

Psalm 90:12
Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.

Day 17 - Strength in Christ

This one especially touches my heart. Not only for my husband but for my boys as well. In a society that seems to be feminising men, it is so important that men live like Christ taught them to live.

Pray that your husband will enjoy his manliness as he patterns his life after Christ and strong men in the faith. Pray for his physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual strength.

Ephesians 3:16
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

1 Peter 2:21
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

1 Corinthians 10:11
These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

Day 16 - Healthy Choices

Pray that your husband will choose healthy, God-honoring activities. Pray that he will not live in bondage to any questionable habits or hobbies, but that he will experience freedom in holiness as he yields to the Spirit’s control.

1 Corinthians 6:12
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.

1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

2 Timothy 2:4
Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.

Day 15 - Choosing Friends

I did not do any blogging this weekend.... family time. But if you would like to read the the days I missed on the challenge, just click on the 31 Days picture on the right side of my blog...

Day 15
Pray that your husband will choose his friends wisely. Pray that God will bring him men who will encourage his accountability before God, and will not lead him into sin.

Proverbs 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise;
associate with fools and get in trouble.

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend.
