Many of you know the struggles that we have had over the last year with our housing situation. We had a goal almost a year ago to sell our home in town and move out to the country and build on family land. We really felt like this was God leading us to live a more simple, family focused life. Not just focused on our immediate family but also including my parents into the equation. We fixed up and put our house on the market with the expectation of a quick and easy sell. Therein lies my most prominent problem in my life; EXPECTATION!!! Needless to say, our house did not sell quickly or easily. We faced some unexpected setbacks and obstacles but finally sold our home 5 months after we initially put our home on the market. I know 5 months doesn't seem like a long time but really, our expectations were WAY TOO HIGH!!!

So, the house sold and we had moved out to my parent's guest house to live mortgage free while we leisurely and without incident built our brand new, perfect in every way family dream home.

Now here we are almost one year later with no home, no land and no prospects for building. We have seriously explored all of our options to no avail!! I could go into the whole thing but to be honest, I am tired of it all. About 2 weeks ago we had to seriously had to take stock of what we were doing! Was it God's will or ours that we were pursuing? After our 4th and last trip to the bank with no hope of building out here, we decided that we needed to move out of the guest home and start looking for a home of our own. This decision was met with a lot of disappointment from my children and especially my dad but Steve and I felt a peace about it. We realize that living a family focused life, even including my parent's, does not have to be on our terms!

Why am I telling you all this, well, we have found a home that we LOVE. It has all of our prerequisites and was exactly the price we said we wanted! We are now in the "contract" phase and waiting to here from the bank. More EXPECTATIONS that I am trying to keep in check! I don't want any more disappointments but I also need to remember that I am not in control and that God only wants the very best for my family; even though sometimes God's ways are not mine! Imagine that!!

Labor Day

Well, we packed all of our gear up early Saturday and headed west for the deer camp. My dad has about 3500 acres in the Brady Mountains and we love to go out there to ride 4-wheelers and hunt, especially the boys.

After many hours in the car and a stop at The Heart 8 BBQ(yum!) in Stephenville, we arrived at the camp to cousins and lots of free time . My cousin, Traes, and his two little girls, Arden and Maggie Kate, came up from Dallas.

So, began the weekend full of shooting guns, riding ATV's, exploring the land, picnicing on the mountain, scouting birds, setting hog snares and very little sleep!! Does it get any better than that?

Two posts in one day. Hmmm, what DO I do all day?

I just wanted to add this wise saying in tangent with my previous post and on the eve of my departure to spend all weekend with my family in the middle of nowhere hunting dove in West Texas.
